Friends and family have been shooting questions::~
And I've been giving it alot of thought::~
I think I should just come out with the truth::~
So here it is::~
I've been having an autoimmune disease ever since I was 12::~
Which causes partial hair loss::~
And I've been recovering well::~
Until last year::~
My condition relapsed and my parents have been urging me to go with the treatment::~
The treatment required me to reduced the amount of hair on my scalp to assist the doctor to monitor my scalp condition::~
That means going almost bald::~
Naturally I've been deny the treatment::~
and had hoped that I would recover naturally like I did::~
After months of urging::~
In favor of my parents wishes::~
I finally decided to start treatment on the 28th July 2009::~
It was my father's birthday::~
The treatment includes lots of cream medications::~
and the worst::~
Shots::~
Or in a more professional term::~
Injections::~
Which is scary at first::~
But my doctor is a skilled manipulator::~
He made me so distracted for my 1st injection::~
It was over before I knew it::~
Haha::~
Then~
To start off the cream medication::~
I had to shave::~
Well::~
Not bald but short enough so most of the cream-based medication would be absorbed by my scalp and not my hair::~
We went out wig-shopping::~
Which was fun, I'd admit::~
Trying out new hairstyles without the permanent effect::~
After choosing the wig::~
I went to meet my doom::~
Oh well::~
I've been prepping myself for ages to do the whole "shaving-thing"::~
And to make things worse::~
The aunty at the salon kept saying that I'm too young to err... have such a daring cut::~
But I had to do it for the treatment::~
Hence::~
I shaved my head like the doctor told me to::~
My mom was trying to distract me from looking at myself in the mirror during the process::~
She was giving me courage really::~
But I caught a glance at the assistant lady who was just chopping off my inches::~
I remembered that my heart just skipped a beat::~
And I felt a sudden chill::~
Just like how I'd feel right before taking the plunge on the Solero Shot::~
And I squeezed my eyes shut and just went back to listening to my mom::~
When it was finally over::~
I checked out my new "do"::~
And I was quite ok with it cuz it didn't look as
bad as I thought it would::~
Well::~
Pros and Cons based::~
The Pros was that it was really really nice to touch~!
The short hair was super soft and smooth::~
Like a baby's head~!
Hehe::~
Well::~
The Cons was that I'm 11 inches short of hair::~
Near bald::~
And a lil shiny all over::~
*sigh*
Anywayz::~
It's been a month now::~
After episodes of breakdowns and staring at myself at the mirror::~
And I wouldn't feel as sad as I was::~
Even when parents are talking about my condition::~
And even if it was about how well I'm recovering::~
I'd used to find an excuse to walk away::~
I'm getting used to it, I hope::~
Now, uni has started::~
The first week was nerve-raveling::~
And I'm sorry if I've been trying to avoid conversation with those who has commented on my new hair "do"::~
I still don't have the courage to talk about it::~
Well::~
Not face to face, yet::~
So I'm telling as much as possible here::~
So I'm asking for you to please understand how I'm feeling::~
And try to avoid the subject, if possible::~
